blue jean baby...

i haven't seen or bought any amazing jeans this year. the last pair i bought were hudson's and though they are comfy and can be dressed up for work they aren't my favorite or second favorite for that matter. the pair before that were new true religion's. they were okay too, but the flare seems almost costume-like.

before i entered the corporate world i used to work for a jean heaven! all this jean-unhappiness has made me look into the past, when i was surrounded by awesome jean lines. Some of my favorite are:

Kasil
Designed by David Lim, Kasil denim is work, weekend and nightlife friendly. The best thing is that they last. I have had one pair for 3 + years; they still look new! my fav style is the "gwen" bootcut. here they are in "atlantic" wash.

see more and shop for yourself at http://www.kasildenim.com/

Level 99

Level 99 is known for their wide leg trousers, but some other things i love about them is their affordability and versatility. costing about 105 bucks and coming in skinny and boot-cut styles as well, level 99 rocks! see below:

the first is the "newport" and the second is the "donna." Both styles come in all different washes and colors. See more at http://www.level99usa.com/ .

Replay

I love this italian jean line. I was so happy to see these jeans all over Rome and snag a perfect pair in my size!

i don't really like how the brand name is spread across the back of these, but this cut is my fav. it's the "original." See more at www.replay.it/

Happy shopping :)

rachel and steve

so...

i did some damage this weekend with nicole. my two fav purchases are:

LOVE LOVE LOVE this Rachel Pally vest! Nordstrom had a huge selection of her stuff, which was cool b/c i had never seen her line there before.

And then, drum roll please! i took the plunge and went for:

the madden boot! i found out her name is "Buck," very jack london! i had a hard time deciding if i should get brown or black, obviously i wear black more often, but i may be back once fall hits to grab the brown too! the sales gal also told me they would be getting Buck in a light brown suede as well! i have to say, the sales girl was great! i usually get ignored by the teens working at steve madden, but this girl was on point. she was rocking these boots too!

chan luu

i first heard about chan luu about 4 years ago while working in a local boutique. i immediately fell in love with her signature wrap bracelets (see above pic) and the way she played with gold and silver.

chan came to the states in 1972 from vietnam. she attended boston u, where she received a business degree and then naturally made the move to LA to pursue her interests in design. she started with just jewelry but then in 2004 launched a RTW line which also took off.

i wanted to share some of my favorite pieces:

the first is a sterling silver textured heart on a brown irish waxed linen chain. i love how it looks so weathered and old! the next piece is sterling silver peace sign chain. it's 32" long! i actually have this piece, save for the fact that mine is crosses and not peace signs. i love the length and always get compliments on it :) the last necklace is my favorite! the cross is white bone filigree and the charms are sterling. again, i love how old it looks:)

there is a lot more to discover about chan luu! visit http://www.chanluu.com/ to see more of her amazing jewelry and clothing.

25 things...

well, it's July 24th and one year after my golden birthday. Today i am 25. i decided it would be good for me to think of 25 things i want to strive to do or do differently. so here goes...
1. make a real effort to recycle more at work
2. try to not leave the house with wet hair
3. eat more fresh foods and less microwave meals
4. take a dance class at least once a week
5. try to buy more "have in my closest for years" pieces and less uber-trendy disposable pieces
6. listen to my cell phone messages the day they are left
7. cut diet coke out of my life...forever (in squints voice from sandlot)
8. wake up with enough time to eat breakfast and do my make-up!
9. save energy and water by doing laundry less often
10. spend more time with family
11. try new places to eat more often instead of going to old favs
12. make a genuine effort to save money
13. write letters snail mail to friends that live a ways away
14. become better at standing up for my ideas in the workplace
15. see the dentist every 6 months :(
16. spend time reading instead of channel surfing before bed
17. be less loud
18. be more organized at the office and at home
19. sigh...this is a big one...start reading the newspaper/ seeking out news again
20. spend less money on bottled water, what a waste!
21. take my pups to the dog park more often
22. visit my nephew every other month so he knows who i am and so i can watch him grow in person!
23. take advantage of volunteering opportunities through work
24. smile more often
25. let bad and unhealthy habits die hard

didn't a wise man once say the man who wears a boot does not mind where he places his foot?

In my work-world, as the second quarter comes to a close, it's all about boots! In that spirit I wanted to share some of my favorite boot finds.

This is Moschino's Cheap & Chic, "Riding Boot with Bow." I usually hate bows but this one is so sleek and gives a masculine silioutte a girly touch.

These next two are my absolute fav! The boot on the left is Frye's "Paige" boot. I love the sleek shape and all of the functional buckles! The boot on the right is Golden Goose's "Charlye," boot. I love the suede shaft and the fact that it's pull on. One thing I don't love is the price, a steep $1,050.

The first two of the above boots are from Steve Madden. The one on the left is called "Flank," and the one on the right's name is escaping me :(. The last boot, is by ecco and it's called,"wave GTX." These are combat-esque inspired boots. Almost every vendor is showing them at market. At first I was a little turned off by them, but the more I looked at them the more I liked them:) Just imagine them with some extra scruncy knee socks and a mini-skirt! Here's a cute example:

i'm not there

i wasn't too excited to see the Oscar nominated film, "I'm not there," chronicling Bob Dylan's life. i often get that way when a book i adore gets turned into a movie, so i felt similarly about seeing the life of one of my all-time favorite musicians turned into a film. Point being, i LOVED it.i highly recommend it, just so long as you don't mind the non-linear plot.
the many faces of Bob Dylan or, "jack, jude, billy, robbie or woody"
i'll end with some dylan:
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev'rybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.

black magic woman

Nicole's shower wasn't the only fun event of this past weekend. It was also Holly's 25thBirthday party! We went to a really chill bar in Berkeley, Thalassa.

I love these four girls so much. They are a part of everything important in my life. We have all become five distinct people since high school, but when we get together it is like finishing a puzzle. I had the best time and i know the birthday girl did too!

your vote counts!

my birthday is coming up pretty quick. I am FINALLY going to get my second tattoo--not sure if Nicole cares if it is before or after her wedding yet-- YEAH!
I have already half-decided which font I like best and will use, but i figure a little public opion can never hurt.
So we have:

Use the font names to vote on your fav!

My M-Day

Well... I was supposed to wake up at 8 and run a plethora of errands, but when i heard the alarm I decided against it. I spent three more hours sleeping. I'm pretty sure i needed it too. Work has been pretty exhausting and home life has been rocky at best.

Now I have all these things i need to buy on a shoestring budget. In times of money issues my dad always reminds me that, "if your mother didn't have the money to do it, she just wouldn't do it!"
I'm not so sure about that. She would find a way. She always made everything work and I will too.

On that note, I am off to take care of business!!!
:)
